Elon Musk recently expressed his discomfort with not having enough control over Tesla to make it a champion of artificial intelligence (AI). Musk stated that he desires to have at least a 25% stake in the electric-car maker to exert significant influence but still be open to being overruled. Presently, Musk controls approximately 13% of Tesla according to FactSet data.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Musk emphasized his preference to develop AI products beyond Tesla if he doesn’t achieve the desired level of control. This statement comes from Musk’s long-held concerns about the potential catastrophic consequences of poorly constructed artificial intelligence on humanity.
As news of Musk’s sentiments spread, Tesla shares experienced a decline of more than 2% in pre-market trading. However, the company has yet to respond to requests for comment on the matter.
It is clear that Elon Musk, as the visionary behind Tesla and owner of X, remains committed to ensuring that artificial intelligence is developed responsibly and with careful consideration for its impact on society and humanity.
